Wait–Wait! An Update?

Been busy-ish with school. Having trouble going to class because I was sick for a whole week, which predisposed me to avoid class the next week (and the cycle continued). Didn’t stop me from getting A’s on two of tests and a mid-range B on the third, though. No word on my graduation petition from the registrar yet, but it passed the IT department weeks ago now. Anyway, been getting tired at weird hours lately and it’s been affecting me pretty badly. Not going to class today either in favor of doing the outline for the test on Thursday.

(un)bang

So, I almost hit this dog on the way home tonight. It was dark, but I saw the dog in enough time to quickly switch (read “swerve”) into a different lane. I didn’t hit it, so don’t worry about it. What I really want to say is that I heard this awesome song on the way home. 99X does this thing called “Sunday School” with imports and other new music. I don’t usually get to listen to it, but I did tonight. This song is a little slow jazz with a lot of pop (go listen to it here: youtube plus this proves that “The Robot” did NOT die… and british folks are crazy):

True Affection

The Blow

I was out of your league….
and you were twenty thousand underneath the sea
Waving affections
You were out of my league
at a distance that I didn’t want to see
Down to the bottom

I wanted a junction, and often there was one
You’d surface face first and we’d share thought bubbles
and I still believe in the phrases that we breathed
but I know the distance isn’t fair to cross

I was out of your league….
and you were twenty thousand underneath the sea
Waving affections
You were out of my league
at a distance that I didn’t want to see
wanted you nearer

Your depths made a pressure that punctured my works
and all your fluids couldn’t tolerate the force of my thirst
I love the place, where we shared our tiny grace
But just because it’s real don’t mean it’s going to work

I was out of your league….
and you were twenty thousand underneath the sea
Waving affections
You were out of my league
at a distance that I didn’t want to see
wanted you nearer

and true affection floats
true affection sinks like a stone
I never felt so close
I never felt so all alone

I was out of your league….
and you were twenty thousand underneath the sea
Waving affections
You were out of my league
at a distance that I didn’t want to see
wanted you nearer

Music

If man is 5, if man is 5, if man is 5,
Then the devil is 6, then the devil is 6, then the devil is 6, then the devil is 6, and if the devil is 6,
Then god is 7, then god is 7, then god is 7

Well, it looks like I have to find another place to put CDs. I mean, I’ve accumulated so many now. I’ve been on this kick that stealing is wrong and stuff… Anyway, so I thought I would list some of my favorite bands here:

  • Our Lady Peace (they’re from Canada)
  • Tantric (western influenced rock)
  • Coheed & Cambria (it’s based off of a comic book… bite me)
  • Sponge (my hair goes up like the lead singer’s)
  • Fuel (my heart breaks at who they’re replacing the lead singer with)
  • Gin Blossoms (Let’s drive have the cops chase us around…)
  • Muse (if you could make music like that…)
  • Bush (”Glycerine” is one of my favorite songs)
  • Eve6 (”Inside Out” is my other one)
  • Pixies (6… 7… 7… 7…)
  • Letters to Cleo (Boston band!)
  • Interpol (some of their stuff sounds like a New York band)
  • Jimmy Eat World (emocore is lame… but this band is not)
  • Lifehouse (”Sick Cycle Carousel”)
  • Kenna (All is he - e - e - ll bent…)
  • Catherine Wheel (the band is no longer together *sniff*)
  • American Hi-Fi (You are just the flavor of the weak…)
  • Incubus (”Stellar”)
  • Chronic Future (Everything.)
  • Rise Against
  • Rage Against the Machine

The Concert

“We’re just a bunch of people who like playing rock…”

The concert was awesome. It’s too bad that the crowd was so dead. To all of you reading this, when you hit 21 and you go to a concert, promise me that you will NOT just stand there with a drink in your hand for the ENTIRE show. I was disappointed with the crowd, but the Shys and the Subways totally rocked. That quote is from the Subways’ lead singer. You missed out if that’s your thing! I mean, really, it was great.

Other than that, Spring break for me is next week! Yes! Unfortunately, I have a paper to write, though I think I did really good on that Physics mid-term I had to take yesterday. I’m looking forward to taking a week off of this junk. Of course, by “junk” I mean the stress that comes with coursework all due on the same day or very nearly the same day.

EDIT: Oh, I also got my Red Cross Blood Donor’s card today. I’m O+, like 47% of America… I’m such a conformist.

Today

Today was enough
Of an “I love you.”
I love you, too.
I love you,
I love you, too.
I love you.

My eyes are misty,
Like that from hot tea.
I’m sure that it’s sour,
But give me an hour,
And I’ll drink it all away,
Like I drink up your fears,
And I soak up your tears,
Even when you don’t ask me.

Today, today,
And all of our
Yesterdays,
I can’t wait for
Tomorrow.

Today, today,
And all of our
Yesterdays,
And I can’t wait for
Tomorrow.
